Dr. John Otrhalek, a leader in the fields of restorative and cosmetic dentistry, graduated from the University of Detroit Dental School and received the Fellowship Degree from the Academy of General Dentistry having completed 10 times the number of continuing education credits than the average dentist.This places Dr. Otrhalek in a category only 9% of dentists in the United States are in. He has also been selected as a Top Dentist by Hour Magazine - Detroit in 2008.

Along with Dr. Otrhalek's commitment to continuing education in the fields of cosmetic and restorative dentistry, he sustains membership in the following:

Emma was born in the Philippines and attended high school and took vocational courses in business management. She has been in the U.S. for 21 years and is a proud American citizen. She is a certified dental assistant through Macomb Schools, has extensive experience as a dental receptionist and is our expert in insurance billing.She has over 18 years of experience in the dental field and has worked for Dr. Otrhalek for 8 years as his front desk coordinator and as his occasional dental assistant. She enjoys working and talking with our patients and our patients adore her.

Christine, I have been working in dentistry for over 15 years. I enjoy the dental field because there are always challenges and new things to learn. What I love the most about my job is working with the patients and getting to know them and helping them feel comfortable and confident regarding their dental decisions. I am excited about being part of Dr. Otrhalek's team and helping our patient's achieve their dental goals.

Mary, a dental hygienist, graduated from the University of Detroit in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene. She has been working with Dr. Otrhalek for over 10 years. Being a part of the office for an extended period of time has enabled her to establish a rapport with our patients and this also helps put them at ease when they are the dental chair. This ability of Mary's will make you feel comfortable, also.

Heidi, a dental hygienist, has been in dentistry for almost 30 years. The past 20 have been in dental hygiene. She has worked for Dr. Otrhalek for 8 years. She graduated from Kalamazoo Community College in 1986. She enjoys living and working in the same community. On any given day she will see patients from her church, neighbors or even her daughters' friends. This makes her job fun and interesting and Heidi's calm and patient demeanor, along with her professional skills will make you look forward to your dental appointments.






Carolyn has been a dental hygienist for 29 years and has worked 20 of those years for Dr. Otrhalek. She received her dental hygiene degree from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Carolyn likes the great opportunities she has working at this fine practice of Woods Dentistry. The courteous and efficient staff and the friendly patients she sees make her work enjoyable. She is proud to offer all of the current dental services Wood Dentistry has available to her patients. Along with her fellow staff, she likes keeping up with current dental trends through continuing education.






Tawn has worked on and off in the dental field for the past 30 years handling the front office duties. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology and a masters degree in counseling from Michigan State University. She currently works on the days that the office isn't open and when Emma is off. She enjoys hearing what's going on with the patients she sees and answering patients' questions when they have a problem or concerns.
